A freshly cleaned hard court gives

you free rein to play

To ensure a long-standing operating life, the hard court needs to be maintained and cleaned at regular intervals. When refurbishing a hard court, the top layer is loosened, aerated and unwanted objects are removed. Subsequently, it is compacted and levelled. Sufficient water permeability of the underlying layer, in particular of the dynamic layer, is crucial to the success of the refurbishment. The purpose of the dynamic layer is to store water in order to release it into the top layer to maintain the moisture level during periods of dry weather. The hard court surfaces and the dynamic layer are of crucial importance in terms of functionality on the one hand and safe use of the facility by athletes on the other hand.

The cleaning procedure

1. The surface is loosened up

A vibrating harrow is used to break
open and loosen the top layer. The
depth is adjustable as needed. The
levelling frame does the coarse
levelling. Requirements: sufficient
water permeability of the dynamic
layer and enough surface layer depth.

2. Small particles are filtered out

In the next step, the picked up and
loosened hard court surface material
is transported onto the screening
surface using a rotating pick-up brush.
Coarse elements (stones, moss) as
well as unwanted objects (bottle tops,
cigarette butts) are transported into
a catch tray. The remaining hard court
surface material passes through the
screen and falls back onto the hard
court. A further advantage: a mixture
of grains of various sizes is achieved.

3. Compacting and levelling

The loosened and cleaned top
layer is subsequently compacted
using a plain roller. Then the hard
court surface is levelled using a
brush bar.
